|
- Notched Stringer pallet :
is a pallet with the stringer notched to permit four-way
handling with fork lift truck and two-way handling with pallet
trucks.
- Chamfer :
means a bevel on the top edges of the bottom deck board to
facilitate the passage of the wheels and/or forks of pallet
trucks.
- Deck :
means the top or bottom surface. This may or may not be
continuous.
- Lead Boards :
means members which form the outside edges of the decks under
which the lifting device enters.
- Stringers :
means those members to which the decks are fastened. They run
the full length of the pallet.
- Block type pallet :
is a single or double faced pallet made with stringer boards
separated by blocks permitting two and four way entry. This
type can be made in either flush stringer or wing styles.
- Wings :
mean those parts of the deck or decks which projects beyond
the bearers.
- Openings :
means spacing provided in the bottom decks of a double deck
pallet to allow the wheels of a pallet truck to bear on the
ground.
- Free entry :
means entry through which the wheels of a pallet truck can
pass without leaving the ground.
